Acrylic on Authentic Helmet. This is a painting of Peyton Manning on an autograhed Authentic full-size helmet. I've been doing sports art on and off since 2001. The process is time consuming but worth the effort. I first search through hundreds of pics for the right pose. I then draw it to scale on thick paper and cut it out like a stencil. Remember, this is a rounded smooth surface and things can get out of proportion quickly. I use the stencil to plan the exact location of the painting and then rough-up that area only with sand paper. In this case, I removed a portion of the horseshoe logo to make it look as if he was in front of it. I then transfer the drawing to the helmet using the stencil. Go in and fill in more detail and check the drawing is the next step. Once that is complete, the painting begins. After painting is done and dry, a gloss clear coat is applied. Throughout the process, you have to make sure the autograph remains untouched. There you have it, an original one-of-a-kind autographed work of art. Let me know what you think.
